Pregnancy Hypertension
Due to the intention of the current Editor-in-Chief to resign her position, the publisher of Pregnancy Hypertension hereby issues a Call for Nominations to the position of Editor-in- Chief.
Candidates should be experienced scholars actively involved in aspects of hypertension in pregnancy as covered by the journal’s Aims and Scope.
The aim of Pregnancy Hypertension: An International Journal of Women’s Cardiovascular Health aims to stimulate research in the field of hypertension in pregnancy, disseminate the useful results of such research, and advance education in the field.
We publish articles pertaining to human and animal blood pressure during gestation, hypertension during gestation including physiology of circulatory control, pathophysiology, methodology, therapy or any other material relevant to the relationship between elevated blood pressure and pregnancy. The subtitle reflects the wider aspects of studying hypertension in pregnancy thus we also publish articles on in utero programming, nutrition, long term effects of hypertension in pregnancy on cardiovascular health and other research that helps our understanding of the etiology or consequences of hypertension in pregnancy
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling the submission of manuscripts. Their tasks will include:
- Selecting and inviting referees for submitted articles, and decide on revision / acceptance / rejection of those articles based on the referees comments (submitted articles are shared between the EiC and the Associate Editors for handling).
- Overseeing the work of the Editors, and to provide guidance to the Editors as needed, to ensure the acceptance standard of the journal is known and applied consistently
- Providing guidance to the Editors on journal policy issues that may arise, and to take the final decision on contentious policy issues
- Pro-actively approaching peers to publish their best research in the journal
- Working with the Editors and Board members to develop themes for special issues each year.
- Developing a steady pipeline of invited review articles
- Working with the Journal Manager to ensure regular inflow of accepted articles in the correct format for publication
- Working with the Publisher to maintain and develop the publishing relationship with the International Society for the study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (ISSHP) and to develop the strategic direction and development of the journal
- Attendance at annual Editorial meetings
- Being an ambassador for the journal in professional settingsThe Publisher will provide the successful candidate with a range of support services, including electronic submission software and support and access to ScienceDirect full-set collection. The Editor-in-Chief will also receive an annual honorarium and travel funds to the annual editorial meeting.
Candidates should submit a brief summary of their experience and/or interest in becoming the Editor-in-Chief, their c.v., and a commentary reviewing how they believe hypertension in pregnancy studies will develop in the coming 5 years and the role they see the journal playing in those developments.
